Thanks for stopping by!  My name is Paul Buchanan and this is my site.  I am a part-time, freelance web developer.

I started developing websites in 2009 as the economy took a downturn and I fouind myself unemployed. I worked freelance full-time for a little over a year before returning to thea regular 9 to 5 in 2010.  However, I did not stop developing websites, instead choosing to work with select clients as time has permitted.

I spent the first several years working almost exclusively with Joomla and became an expert at developing full Joomla 1.5 websites. Since 2013, in addition to Joomla, I have been working with Wordpress, as well.

In addition to working with select clients, I have been a student of niche sites for the past 2 years and have developed over 2 dozen small product-based niche sites.

My latest endeavor has been to teach.  Teaching has always been a passion and goal. However, I didn't just want to teach in the public school or even college.  I wanted to make sure that I was teaching something that added value to people's lives and that was something that people want to learn.  I recently started working with Udemy. I am in the process of creating courses and look forward to being able to share the information.  I've created a training section to my website that lists recommended courses and will also be were I will list my courses as they are complete.

Technical Abilities

I have developed an advanced knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, PHP, Joomla, Wordpress, Linux and dozens of "little" programs that allow me to accomplish tasks that many web developers or website owners find daunting.

I use a Windows 7 desktop PC and Windows 8 laptop. Additionally, I built an Ubuntu Linux machine running Apache web server with the latest PHP, mySQL, curl and other normal web server additions. This Linux machine allows faster website development, since the files can be accessed directly, making customization and troubleshooting much easier. Once a website is developed, I can deploy it to either their online website or to his clients site.
